Art in the Park 2008 – A Letter from the Upstate Visual Arts President
I encourage each of you to attend Upstate Visual Arts' 17th Annual Art in the Park. We are honored to be the first festival at Fluor Field at the West End. Our partnership with Fluor Field has allowed Art in the Park to expand, enabling us to better showcase our immensely gifted artists.
This year, we welcome more than 100 artists, making Art in the Park 2008 the largest in our history. Our booth artists represent the diverse palette of talent our region has to offer, and our demonstration artists are drawn from Upstate Visual Arts' new Professional Artist Association. We also encourage you to visit the Juried Show to see a sampling of work from Upstate Visual Arts artists.
As you experience the festival, we hope you'll take some time to relax at the Beer and Wine Garden, have a taste of our expanded food options, soak in the live music and let the kids release some creative energy at the Publix Super Market Charities Inc. Children's Area, just to name a few options. There's so much to see and do, and we want you to explore it all.
Art in the Park is the primary source of funding for Upstate Visual Arts, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to enhancing the quality of life in our community by elevating the stature of visual arts and educating the public to its significance. Our members are art lovers, collectors, students, professional galleries and working artists—all working toward the common goal of improving our lives and our community through art. You can find out more about us and our plans for the future at upstatevisualarts.org.
This year's festival holds special significance for Upstate Visual Arts as it represents the fresh perspective of our energetic newly-elected executive leadership. The first of our many goals was to reinvent Art in the Park as an immersive, interactive arts experience for art lovers of all ages. We believe we've succeeded. We hope you'll agree.
Sincerely,

Jonathan Taylor
President, Upstate Visual Arts
